Baseball Bloggers Alliance Day

The Crazy Crabbers are a proud member of the Baseball Bloggers Alliance and today has been set aside for members to write a little bit about the organization.

The BBA has been around since 2009 and is the equivalent (or the attempted equivalent) of the Baseball Writers Association. The goals of the organization is create a network of baseball bloggers so that each writer can use one another to deepen their understanding of the game and the teams that play it.

The secondary aim for the BBA is to vote on year end awards, all-stars, and most recently a hall of fame ballot. The balloting (the all-star voting specifically) is actually what caught my interest in the organization. I found the idea of a place that could attempt to right the wrongs of some of the award voting is a good place to be a part of and it has.

The membership has meant more then that too, I have been in contact with a number of great writers, been turned onto some really great blogs, had the chance to participate in the BBA podcast (which inspired my attempts at podcasting) and be part of a good group of writers.

There are over 240 blogs in the alliance covering every major league club, general baseball, fantasy baseball, history and much more. The Giants Chapter is 10 members strong and we are always looking for more great blogs to get into the mix.

The current lineup is:

I will throw this in just in case you want to join. Drop an e-mail with your pertinent information to founder@baseballbloggersalliance.com. There are some new membership requirements going into effect in January, so be sure to check out the constitution and make sure you are able to handle those. Otherwise, the door’s always open!

If your on Twitter you should definitely follow the The Crazy Crabbers. If you're not you should really consider joining, lots of good stuff going on there.
