The offense goes off for 10 runs behind Sanchez

Giants 10 and Orioles 2:

Jonathan Sanchez was efficient which is great to see, he had all of his pitches working and was able to stay out of big innings and meltdowns. Pat Burrell went way deep and the offense followed suit blowing up for 10 runs. They scored early and the scored often.

When Sanchez left in the top of the eighth it was too far out of reach for the bullpen to even give the fans any sort of a minor scare. It was a nice break from the usuall torture that is this season.

Player of the Game:

Lot's to choose from after this game but I am going to go with Andres Torres. Torres has excelled at the lead off spot this season and has been a spark plug for the offense. Last night was no different, his lead off triple and his double in his next at bat lead to runs. The icing on the cake is that he also took 2 walks. There is not much more that you can ask for.

Andres Torres line: 2-3 2B, 3B, 2BB, 2 runs and 2 RBI's

Looking Ahead:

Joe Martinez makes his first start of the year in the second game of the set in the place of the injured Todd Wellemeyer. Martinez has thrown pretty well in Fresno and was sharp in his last outing. The bullpen is well rested so if he can give 5 innings things should work out.

The Giants move to 9 games above .500 the highest they have been all season. The Giants are sitting just a half out first and tied with the Dodgers for second place. It has been a climb to get back in the thick of things and the road ahead is going to be tough but it should be a fun summer.
