With the win last night the Giants ensured that the A's left town feeling the same way the Giants did a few weeks ago. Matt Cain kept his mojo working going 7 innings giving up only 1 run while scattering 8 hits. The offense also woke up on this rare hot day in the city with a 3 home run day and two by the Giants new super Utility man Aubrey Huff.
The Game was close up until the sixth inning when the giants scored three runs on back to back home runs. The bullpen tried their best to blow this one but held the ship together to get Cain the win. The offense even added some insurance in the bottom of the 8th on the second 2 run home run from Huff to give Brian Wilson the night off.
Player of the Game:
I would be hard pressed to give the honor to anyone else in this position, but the player of the game has to be Huff. He has played well this season and although he may not have been the first choice in the off season he has been a very important part of the teams success.
Huff: 2-4, 2R, 2HRs, 4 RBIs and an outfield assist
Looking Ahead:
The Orioles come to town for a 3 game set. The Giants will have Jonathan Sanchez, Joe Martinez, and Tim Lincecum on the mound. It would be nice to get some wins before a tough stretch that is coming up.
The Giants move to 8 games above .500 the highest they have been all season. The Giants are sitting just a game and a half out first and only half a game behind the Dodgers.
