It was a two man race for the National League rookie of the year and in my biased opinion the best man won.
Not to take anything away from Jason Hayward who had a heck of a season himself or Jaime Garcia who in a more normal season could have been a run away winner but this year was all about Buster Posey.
Posey was magic wrapped up in awesomeness with a sprinkling of wise beyond his years ice cold water running through his veins in big moments.
From his 3 hit, 3 RBI debut to the 21 game Giants rookie record hitting streak, to his sizzling July where he was the best hitter in baseball all while dealing with the pressure of a contending team and being one of the few constant threats in the Giants lineup.
The final numbers:
.305/ .357/ .505 18HR, 67 RBI
The numbers are simply amazing but only tell part of the story of what he means to this team and this city.
Buster Posey is a well deserving Rookie of the year and the first to win it since 1975 when John Montefusco brought home the award.
