Let's not freak out too much

The Giants were swept in the their opening series for the first time since 1984 and are looking to aviod going 0 and 4 for the first time since moving to San Francisco, they start the season in the cellar and are already three games back of the defending division champs. Things probably couldn't have started worst while everyone stayed healthy.

This series sucked but these kinds of things are going to happen over a long season many times.

The only reason that it seems so bad is that it is the start of the season. Last year the Giants had 10 streaks where they lost three games in a row and went on to win 86 games, in 2010 they lost three in a row six times and went on to win the World Series.

The odds of them making the playoffs according to Baseball Prospectus have barely budged from the start of the season.

The Giants had a bad series, the pitching gave up a bunch of home runs in a very lively Chase Field (6.25 percent of last seasons total in the last 3 games), the defense was sloppy on a very hard infield. The Giants lost 3 one-run games and played the games tough down to the last out.

These are things that aren't likely to keep going as the season keeps moving
