John Bowker has a strong week in Fresno. I am hopefull that Bowker will come up before the rosters expand but if not I really hope that he gets the call to the big club.
Last 10 games (July 16-25) with Fresno:
A very nice stretch of games for Bowker who has a hit in 8 of his last 10 games and 5 multi hit games over the same stretch. He saw much of his power return hitting 3 homeruns and 2 doubles. The biggest thing that I see is that this week he has really cut down on the strikeouts only 3 and 3 walks to go along with that.
10 games 43 at bats .326/ .370/ .581 .951 OPS 14 hits, 2 doubles, 3 home run, 5 RBIs, 3 walks, 3 strike outs.
Stat Line with Fresno:
46 games 178 at bats .309/ .386/ .590 .976 OPS 55 hits, 12 doubles, 12 home runs, 30 RBIs, 20 walks (3 intentional), 32 strike outs.

I think that it is not proven, I think that you need more then just a couple 100 at bats to prove that. Here are 2 players career AAA numbers tell me which one is better:
ReplyDeletePlayer A: .323/ .431/ .569 OPS: 1.000
Player B: .337/ .432/ .535 OPS: 0.967
One of these is Buster Posey the other is John Bowker. I say just give him a chance to sink or swim at the major league level he may surprise or he may stink it up.
Just give a guy a chance.
