Posey Wins MVP in Internet Baseball Awards Voting

The MVP awards voted on by the Baseball Writers of America is announced Thursday but in the meantime Baseball Prospectus has announced the results of the Internet Baseball Awards Voting.

The award for Most Valuable Player was given to Buster Posey who beat out Ryan Braun and Andrew McCutchen by a fairly sizable manner.

Hopefully that is a sign of good news for Posey.

In other voting Bruce Bochy came in third place for Manager of the Year, Matt Cain came in 6th place, Madison Bumgarner 14th place and Sergio Romo 36th place for Cy Young and Hector Sanchez came in 50th place in the Rookie of the Year vote.

Buster Posey is Giants Savior and Now also the Rookie of the Year

It was a two man race for the National League rookie of the year and in my biased opinion the best man won.

Not to take anything away from Jason Hayward who had a heck of a season himself or Jaime Garcia who in a more normal season could have been a run away winner but this year was all about Buster Posey.

Posey was magic wrapped up in awesomeness with a sprinkling of wise beyond his years ice cold water running through his veins in big moments.

From his 3 hit, 3 RBI debut to the 21 game Giants rookie record hitting streak, to his sizzling July where he was the best hitter in baseball all while dealing with the pressure of a contending team and being one of the few constant threats in the Giants lineup.

The final numbers:

.305/ .357/ .505 18HR, 67 RBI

The numbers are simply amazing but only tell part of the story of what he means to this team and this city.

Buster Posey is a well deserving Rookie of the year and the first to win it since 1975 when John Montefusco brought home the award.
