Giants to Revive Classic 80's Uniforms

Some pretty cool news for those that enjoy the sport of uniform watching, according to SportsLogos.net the Giants will be bringing back an updated version of the interlocking "SF" jersey that they wore from 1983 to 1993.

According to a reliable source, SportsLogos.Net has learned that the San Francisco Giants will be bringing back a slightly updated version of their 1980′s road jersey as a road alternate jersey for the 2012 season.

The Giants will become the only current Major League Baseball team to wear two distinct grey jerseys regularly and would be the first MLB team to pull off this feat in a single season since the 1990 Chicago White Sox. The Sox brought out their 1991 home and road set with a month left to play in the 1990 season.
I like these uniforms quite a bit they bring back some good memories of the old "Humm Baby" Giants of the late 80's and many cold nights at Candlestick.

I am not really sure why they switched to the current road unis, maybe because they thought that the block "San Francisco" was more of a classic look. That is probably true but to a certain extent the interlocking "SF" road uniform is something that is unique to the San Francisco era and that should be celebrated as well.

It will be interesting to see what the actual updates will end up being and if it will be a specific day uniform like what they do with the orange alternates only being worn on Friday home games. I'll post the new information as it becomes out.
