Late Giants vs. Diamondbacks Series Preview

A little late getting this out. Maybe getting it out at all will turn the Giants luck around.

I can't figure out this offense at all. It is all or nothing. Man shut out after 3 days of 11 plus runs and that outburst was on the heels of a 3 hit shutout too. Like they say "Giants Baseball... Torture."

Probables:

Friday, August 27, 7:15 PM:
Tim Lincecum, 11-8, 3.72 ERA vs. Barry Enright, 4-2, 2.73 ERA

I don't think that we really want to do remembering of this one. I heard Barry Enright on the Damon Bruce Show and he sounds like a good guy. I wish he hadn't been quite so sharp against the Giants but hopefully it is only one game.

Saturday, August 28, 6:05 PM:

Barry Zito, 8-9, 3.78 ERA vs. Daniel Hudson, 3-1, 1.72 ERA

Zito was the hard luck loser in the epic comeback game, that was a tough loss for anyone and I imagine especially for Zito who has had a rocky tenure in San Francisco. I am sure he wanted to do better out there. We can only hope that he takes it out on the Diamondbacks.

From MLB.com:
Hudson shut down the Rockies for seven innings on Sunday. He allowed just four hits and, throwing more sliders, struck out nine. In his first five D-backs starts, the rookie righty has gone seven or more innings and yielded three runs or less.
Technically, Zito will be working on only two days' rest. But his previous appearance was a one-inning relief outing Wednesday in which he threw only 26 pitches. It amounted to a glamorized between-starts bullpen session.

Sunday, August 29, 1:05 PM:
Matt Cain, 10-10, 3.07 ERA vs. Rodrigo Lopez, 5-12, 5.09 ERA

Matt Cain has been the rock of the staff and is now the ace with the downfall of Lincecum. He has been the best pitcher on the team this season and hopefully will be pitching for a series win here.

From MLB.com:
In his last start, Lopez failed to make it into the sixth inning for the fourth straight outing, giving up five runs in 4 1/3. On July 22 against the Giants, Lopez took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits in seven innings.
August has been a mostly subpar month for Giants starters, but not for Cain. He's 2-2 with a 2.76 ERA this month. Cain's coming off a strong eight-inning outing against Cincinnati in which he struck out four of the last six batters he faced.

Keys to the Series:

Get to the Diamonbacks bullpen. It is flammable and is bound to blow up at any moment. Also have Pablo Sandoval and Freddy Sanchez stay hot.

Predictions:

I hate doing predictions because they always seem to blow up in my face, but seeing that I already know how the first game went I have to say that I am crossing my fingers that there is a series victory but man it sure doesn't feel likely at the moment.

So how is that for the weakest prediction ever? I almost want to say they will get swept so if I am wrong at least I feel better about it. You know reverse jinx it. That sounds good, I think that they will be swept and not score another run in a week.
