Its Posey Time Again

UPDATE: Breaking news Buster Posey has been called up and will be the starting first baseman for today's game. It is the beginning of a new era in Giants baseball. Not to put too much pressure on the kid.

Get ready boys and girls its time to talk about Buster Posey! With the month of May going poorly (to put it lightly) for the Giants, the twitterverse has been begging the Giants to call up their young star in Fresno.

I can't say that I blame them wanting the kid brought up. The fact of the matter is that the Giants are 14th in the NL in scoring and have had a dreadful time hitting this month. While Buster Posy is on pace for a .293/.366/.437 season at AAA the Giants do not seem like they want to pull the trigger, most likely for financial reasons.

This very much reminds me of Stephen Strasburg's situation which it seems like all they talk about on SportsCenter (East Coast Bias) but the situations are not so different, they both could help their teams but both organizations do not want to bring their future stars up till at least early June.

During the 2009 season Bengie Molina on defense threw out 22.7% of the runners who tried to steal on him, while Buster Posey is throwing out 44% at AAA, taking into consideration MLB speed if Buster played a full season I would predict this number to be around 30% much better than 22.7%, the bottom line is that Buster Posey throws out runners Bengie does not.

It seems that the team is grasping at straws to find reasons to keep Posey in the minors but the wait shouldn't be too long before he dons the Orange and Black again, and hopefully the move will be permanent.
